SAM Registrations

Registering with the federal government's System for Award Management (SAM) is required to contract with or receive grants or loans from the federal government. 

Active SAM Registrants

Active SAM Registrants can be awarded federal grants, but those with no or inactive SAM registrations cannot receive a federal grant award.

Timely Registration

Timely SAM registration is key.
Obtaining approval of your SAM registration can take a month or longer.
Register as early as you can!

Getting Registered Checklists & Remote Online Help

You can start a SAM registration at SAM.gov.
SAM registration requires that you have a UEI (Unique Entity ID).  
To obtain a UEI you will need to provide your
  • Legal Business Name
  • Physical Address
  • Date of Incorporation 
  • State of Incorporation
Once SAM has validated your UEI you can complete the remaining registration process that requires your
  • Business Information
  • Completing an IRS Consent Form (to verify you are in good standing with the IRS)
  • CAGE or NCAGE Code
  • General Information
  • Financial Information
  • Executive Compensation Information
  • Federal Procurement FARS proceedings confirmation
  • Financial Assistance Responses (applicable to those seeking a grant award)
  • Mandatory & Optional POCs
