REAP (Rural Energy for America Program) grant award amounts start at $1,500 up to $1,000,000 per grant.

​We're here to increase the number of eligible grant proposals by helping Rhode Islanders get their REAP grants!

SAM Registration Help
Free for Eligible RI Applicants!

"SAM" stands for the federal government's "System for Award Management." 
​No federal grant award can be made to anyone who is without an active SAM registration.
Excellent federal grant applications can be prepared and submitted and yet end up unfunded because the applicant did not have their SAM registration active.
The SAM registration process can take weeks to complete and should be started as soon as you know you are going to submit a grant application.
If you have completed one of the Surveys for RI Rural Small Business or RI Agricultural Producers and we have confirmed your eligibility to receive FREE SAM registration and Grantswriting help - we will help you complete your SAM registration!
There is also information available at SAM.gov on how to register including​ instructional videos.
Once you have received your invite to the customized "Get Your Grant" web portal you will have access to phone & ZOOM support to answer any of your questions and help facilitate your successful SAM registration.
An ACTIVE SAM registration is a requirement for your grant application to be considered for evaluation. 
Remember - those applicants without an active SAM registration will not have their applications evaluated for funding and would lose the opportunity to be awarded a REAP grant.

REAP Grantwriting Help
Free for Eligible RI Applicants!

REAP projects start with you.  
Before you spend any money and before you start work on a REAP grant application you should gather your project information by
  • defining your project cost & design
    • with design documents 
    • with spec sheets for major equipment
    • with a list of any permits you will need for the project
  • obtaining quotes for the work to be performed
  • determining the simple pay back
Any expenditures you make before a notice of grant award cannot be included as eligible grant expenses.
Helping you complete your REAP grant application takes a few steps:
  1. Fill out your Survey on this site and we'll follow up with you to confirm your eligibility for free technical assistance.  
  2. Prepare & compile as much of your project info as you can.
  3. If you are eligible we'll
  • coordinate a call/zoom with you to discuss your project
  • coordinate a call/zoom with you and a USDA represen​​​tative to introduce your project to the funder 
  • all things being a 'go' we'll next invite you to a customized web portal to help you move forward to complete the components of your application at no charge to you!
